Farm and Family

Katrina and her husband Brian Ball live on their farm "Glenlea" on the Dundas Tablelands 34 km north of Hamilton at Bulart, near Cavendish.

Brian is an auto-electrician and works off farm for David and Tanya Eastwood in Hamilton and Katrina operates her own veterinary service based in Hamilton.

Katrina has served as a West Wimmera Shire Councillor and is currently a Southern Grampians Shire Councillor.

Previously farming at Apsley in the West Wimmera, Brian and Katrina have four children. Producing prime lambs, wool and beef on the productive picturesque red gum country with magnificent panoramic views of the Grampians, Brian and Katrina are planning farm stay accommodation at the river block Balwannon.

Cavendish nearby has the community owned pub The Bunyip nestled on the banks of the Wannon River, the new Bridge Cafe and B & B accommodation at the old Post Office, along with well known South Mokanger Cottages. The Settlers Walk and the Camping ground also flank the meandering Wannon River.

In 2016 Brian and Katrina purchased a weaner finishing block called Condah Cottage not far from the World Heritage listed Budj Bim interpretative centre in Glenelg Shire.

The three boys are now all engineers: Cameron completed a double degree in mechanical engineering commerce in 2010 and works for Ford in design at  Geelong. Douglas who completed a Mining Engineering degree and currently works with his geologist wife in Alaska mining gold and exploring northern America.  Graham completed a mining and petroleum engineering double degree and is now based in Tasmania working FIFO currently near Cloncurry Queensland. Tori is entering her Honours year at Melbourne University.

The COVID restrictions have presented challenges to all.  Family catch ups over the internet and regular face time sessions with our two granddaughters has been a highlight, but never replacing hugs.
